Blood Orange Espresso Crush
Learn how to make a refreshing summer coffee cocktail with fresh-squeezed orange juice, Sanpellegrino's Aranciata Rossa blood orange sparkling drink, and bright espresso.

Dear coffee lovers,
Summer is finally here and we’re celebrating with a citrusy, espresso crush! The beauty of this drink lies in its layers: fresh-squeezed orange juice with all its natural texture, a crisp Sanpellegrino's sparkling blood orange drink, and the rich depth of espresso. This drink is perfect for kicking back and soaking up the sun beams.
Let’s get brewing! 👀
You’ll need
- A 12oz glass/cup
- A light/medium roast coffee with a bright, tropical flavor profile
- An espresso machine, distribution tools, and tamp - Don’t have an espresso machine? No worries! You can use instant espresso or an AeroPress with a flow control extension to make faux-espresso

- A grinder for espresso
- An espresso chilling ball (optional)
- A scale to weigh your espresso input/output
- A measuring cup or bartender’s jigger to measure your ingredients
- Freshly squeezed, pulpy orange juice
- Sanpellegrino® Aranciata Rossa (sparkling blood orange drink)
- Simple syrup (to cut the bitterness if needed)
Ingredients
- 1 double shot of espresso
- 3oz of freshly squeezed orange juice
- 3oz of Sanpellegrino Aranciata Rossa
- 1oz of simple syrup (optional)
- Cubed ice
Recipe steps
- Pull your espresso shots (I did 19g of ground coffee with a 38g output) over a chilling ball (if you don’t have one, let the espresso cool for a moment before incorporating), which comes out to about 1.5oz.
- Fill your 12oz glass half way with cubed iced.
- Add 1oz of simple syrup to your glass.
- Add 3oz of your freshly squeezed orange juice.
- Add 3oz of Sanpellegrino Aranciata Rossa.
- Finally, add your double shot of espresso to the top.
- Take a moment to appreciate the beautiful layered colors of the ingredients, then stir before drinking. Enjoy your blood orange espresso crush. 💙

This espresso crush is perfect for sharing at home, afternoon porch hangs, or batching out for a beach trip with friends. Each element brings bright flavors that complement the espresso, making for a delightfully refreshing drink. Feel free to experiment with other San Pellegrino sparkling drink flavors too—lemon or orange would be fantastic alternatives. Happy brewing!
Have a beautiful day,
