Finding Peace in the Afternoon
Experience Paix in Richmond, Virginia where thoughtfully crafted specialty coffee and curated vintage clothing coexist in a community-driven space.
Dear coffee lovers,
If you’ve spent any time in Richmond, Virginia recently, you might’ve heard about Paix.
Paix (pronounced “Pay”) has been on my list of cafes to visit for a while. It started as a pop-up espresso cart in 2023 and now has a home on Cleveland Street, sharing space with Rexco, a vintage shop that’s well worth browsing while you’re there.
The cafe has a quiet kind of charm—inviting and unhurried. It makes you want to throw on your favorite pair of worn-in vintage Levis, meet a friend, and just be present. Paix feels like the beginning of something exciting, and I’m glad to see it becoming part of Richmond’s rhythm.
Let’s get a coffee
Paix is tucked away on a quiet side street in Richmond’s Museum District. I entered through Rexco, a vintage garment shop filled with texture and color, and followed the sound of conversation coming from the other side of the space.
I paused—coffee first or vintage browsing? I chose coffee, wanting a moment to take in the atmosphere. At the Paix counter, the baristas greeted me warmly. I ordered a bright, fruit-forward drip coffee that was as memorable as it was delicious.
