Dear coffee lovers,
If you’ve spent any time in Richmond, Virginia recently, you might’ve heard about Paix.
Paix (pronounced “Pay”) has been on my list of cafes to visit for a while. It started as a pop-up espresso cart in 2023 and now has a home on Cleveland Street, sharing space with Rexco, a vintage shop that’s well worth browsing while you’re there.
The cafe has a quiet kind of charm—inviting and unhurried. It makes you want to throw on your favorite pair of worn-in vintage Levi’s, meet a friend, and just be present. Paix feels like the beginning of something exciting, and I’m glad to see it becoming part of Richmond’s rhythm.
Let’s get a coffee
Paix is tucked away on a quiet side street in Richmond’s Museum District. I entered through Rexco, a vintage garment shop filled with texture and color, and followed the sound of conversation coming from the other side of the space.
I paused—coffee first or vintage browsing? I chose coffee, wanting a moment to take in the atmosphere. At the Paix counter, the baristas greeted me warmly. I ordered a bright, fruit-forward drip coffee that was as memorable as it was delicious.
