Dear coffee lovers,

Last week, I scored a black logo tee and green logo mug from Quiet Mountain’s latest drop. I also picked up a copy of Cigarette Packs from Counter Print—a design archive of cigarette packaging from 1930 to 2000. It’s always a joy adding to my ever-growing collection of design artifacts.

For this week’s new roasts, I’ve tracked down a Honduran coffee with a sweet profile from Frukt Coffee in Turku, Finland and a limited edition Panamanian coffee from Nomad Coffee in Barcelona, Spain. Let’s dive in! 👀

The daily sipper

The Danny Moreno from Honduras by Frukt is our pick for today’s approachable and clean roast. Frukt has been sourcing coffee from Danny and his brother Mario since their first crop in 2019. Fun fact: we featured one of Mario’s coffees (also roasted by Frukt) late last year.

This is a high clarity, wash-processed coffee with flavor notes of dark stone fruit (think plums or prunes) and brown sugary sweetness. To capture this roast’s delicate profile, I’d suggest using a Hario V60, Origami Dripper, or Chemex for filter brewing.

The wild one

Our vibrant and complex selection is the Panama Hartmann Geisha varietal from Nomad. Produced by the Hartmann family, this limited release includes a glimpse into their unique operation, courtesy of the Nomad team:

The Hartmann family has been growing coffee for more than 100 years, promoting a balance between coffee production and rainforest conservation. The farm has over 100 hectares of forest reserves that border La Amistad National Park, home to exceptional biodiversity.

In the cup, be ready to experience prominent flavors of lemongrass, blackberries, and yogurt complemented by nuanced floral and fruit notes. For this lush, natural-processed roast, I’d recommend brewing with a Kalita Wave, Origami Dripper, or an AeroPress. It would also be delicious as espresso shots, but use it sparingly since there’s only 100g of coffee in the bottle.
