Weekly Roasts: Market Lane and A Matter of Concrete
Discover two distinctive roasts: A balanced Guatemalan from Market Lane Coffee in Melbourne, Australia and a tropical Costa Rican from A Matter of Concrete in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
Dear coffee lovers,
It’s a great day to discover some new roasts! Today we’ll be featuring coffees from Market Lane Coffee in Melbourne, Australia and A Matter of Concrete in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The first selection is an approachable, washed Guatemalan coffee; the second is a Costa Rican coffee that’s vibrant with a hint of smooth.
The daily sipper
This week’s clean and balanced pick is the Guatemalan La Maravilla from Market Lane. The producer, Mauricio Rosales, established his coffee farm in 1997 with just three plants. As a true testament to Rosales's dedication to ethical and sustainable practices, the farm is now internationally recognized as one of the best in the region.
The La Maravilla offers an approachable tasting profile, making it fantastic for daily brewing. With notes reminiscent of golden syrup, the citrusy brightness of kumquat, and an aftertaste of black tea, this Guatemalan roast is perfect for a pour-over to enjoy on a leisurely morning.

The wild one
A Matter of Concrete (A.M.O.C.) brings the funk with their new Costa Rica - Dota. Produced with great care by Delfina Porras at the Alto El Vapor micro mill and processed by Diego Robelo at the Aquiares estate, A.M.O.C. offers a granular look into this coffee’s natural anaerobic processing:
This coffee undergoes an anaerobic natural process, beginning with a 72-hour sealed tank fermentation using recycled mosto (a term referring to the mucilage or sweet pulp of the coffee cherry). This method enhances the coffee’s inherent sweetness and complexity. Following fermentation, the beans are sun-dried on raised beds for 15 days, ensuring optimal moisture content and flavor development.
The meticulous cultivation, processing, and roasting of this coffee have resulted in wonderfully complex characteristics. In every cup, you'll find vibrant tropical fruit flavors with a silky body and a subtle chocolate finish. This coffee promises to be a wild experience with a sneaky smoothness, making it perfect for single-origin espresso shots or an iced pour-over.
