Dear coffee lovers,

Today we’ll be exploring an approachable coffee from El Salvador by Morgon Coffee Roasters based in Gothenburg, Sweden and a supernatural Colombian from Friedhats Coffee located in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Let’s dive in! 👀

The daily sipper

Our choice for this week’s clean and balanced coffee is Morgon’s washed-processed Diego Baraona from El Salvador. This coffee was produced by Diego Baraona whose family has been established in the coffee farming business since 1890. Diego’s determination to carry on his family’s legacy has been felt through his leadership at the Los Pirineos farm since 2020.

This El Salvador coffee will have a nice and smooth profile. You can expect to taste bright notes of peach and raspberries with creamy milk chocolate and a caramel finish. I’d brew this one on a pour-over using a V60 (or a similar method) to appreciate this coffee’s subtle complexities.

The wild one

The Colombia Supernatural from Friedhats is this week’s selection with some funk to it. A small group of farmers in Colombia’s Tolima region are responsible for the harvest of this unique lot. Friedhats gives us some details on this coffee’s processing:

This specific lot was fermented in cherry for 75 hours in hermetic tanks, which gives this coffee some funky high sweetness fruit notes.

In the cup, you can expect this vibrant coffee to have fruity and sweet notes of pineapple, yogurt, and rich cacao nibs. This Colombian coffee is bound to show your taste buds a good time. Friedhats offers this coffee as a filtered or espresso roast, so choose wisely and be sure to enjoy a delicious brew.
