Dear coffee lovers,

I came across a beautiful collaboration last week between New Balance and Srirat Makes, who together designed a series of ceramics for Paris Fashion Week. Each piece features soft silhouettes, nuanced glazes, and a subtle NB logo imprint. An elegant study in form and craftsmanship.

On the design tools front, I found BDFM by DesignFamilyMarket: a simple, yet clever utility that transforms any image into a perfectly pixelated and scalable SVG. It’s free to use with limited downloads, or you can unlock unlimited exports with a paid tier.

For this week’s roasts, I found a clean, washed Ethiopian coffee from Nostos Coffee in London, England and a funky Colombian coffee co-fermented with hops from Five Elephant in Berlin, Germany. Let’s dive in! 👀

Ethiopia | Sidama G1

  • Producer: Tariku Kare Exporters

  • Varietal: Heirloom

  • Notes: Citrus, Stone Fruit, Black Tea

  • Process: Washed

Beyond coffee, they actively invest in their community — employing over 600 seasonal workers, supporting local schools, and providing training to smallholder farmers to encourage excellence in specialty production.

  • Producer: Sara Gutiérrez, El Silencio

  • Varietal: Caturra

  • Notes: Grand Marnier, Praline, Panettone, Hops

  • Process: Honey + Co-fermented with hops


Note from the roaster:

After returning to her family’s farm, El Silencio in Filandia, Sara Gutiérrez embraced innovation, challenging tradition with experimental fermentation. Now a Cup of Excellence judge and local coffee leader, she’s shaping Colombia’s coffee future.
