Weekly Roasts: Roseline and Andy
Discover an approachable organic Kenyan coffee from Roseline Coffee, and a funky co-fermented Colombian coffee from Andy Roasters.
Dear coffee lovers,
For this week’s new roasts, we’ll be exploring a seasonal Kenyan coffee from Roseline Coffee in Portland, Oregon and a vibrant, co-fermented Colombian coffee from Andy Roasters in Antwerp, Belgium. Let’s dive in! 👀
The daily sipper
The organic Kenya Kainamui AB from Roseline is our clean and balanced selection with a touch of brightness. This lot was produced by a cooperative group in Kirinyaga County, Kenya called “New Ngariama Coffee Farmers’ Cooperative Society,” which is made up of 1,800 smallholder farmers.
Multiple stages of fermentation processing gives this coffee a profile with lively acidity and delicate fruit. In each cup, you can expect to taste black currant with lighter notes of raspberry and mango. I’d recommend preparing this coffee on a V60, Origami, or Chemex for a nicely balanced brew.

The wild one
Our complex and adventurous pick this week is a new, wine yeast infused, banana co-fermented Colombia Jairo Arcila coffee by Andy. According to producer Jairo Arcila, this coffee went through a unique fermentation process:
This coffee was exposed to a dry anaerobic fermentation period of 72 hours with the pulp on. During this fermentation stage, bananas and wine yeast were added. The [coffee] cherries were then pulped and placed to dry on raised beds until the ideal moisture content was achieved.
Due to its experimental processing, this Castillo varietal will have radiant tasting notes of ripe banana, vanilla, and rich caramel. To fully experience the delicious flavors this coffee has to offer, Andy Roasters suggests brewing it with a French press or a filter method (this would be a killer iced pour-over 💙).
