Dear coffee lovers,

Today we’ll be exploring a rare, heirloom varietal from Colombia roasted by Stereoscope Coffee in California, USA, and an extra juicy Ethiopian coffee from People Possession based in Paris, France. Let’s dive in! 👀

The daily sipper

The light roasted Colombia Finca La Riviera by Stereoscope is our selection for this week’s approachable coffee. Tucked away in the mountains of Santa Rosa de Cabal, Julio Madrid is the producer of this meticulously processed coffee from his vast 30 hectare farm.

This coffee is a unique varietal called “Sudan Rume,” which is typically found in South Sudan and is known for having a complex flavor profile. You can expect to taste a range of delicate, silky notes such as white peach, passionfruit, and cherry blossom. Preparing the Colombia Finca La Riviera on a Hario V60, Cafec Flower Dripper, or Chemex would highlight the elegant flavors of this coffee.

The wild one

Our choice for this week’s bold and vibrant coffee is the Aricha Adorsi originating from Ethiopia roasted by the cryptic team at People Possession. Operated by family-owned, community-driven group Testi Specialty Coffee, this lot was grown by approximately 800 smallholder farmers and processed at the Adorsi Washing Station.

With its anaerobic natural processing, this coffee is one that will radiate notes of pineapple, dried mango, white grape, and pomelo in the cup. For brewing, I’d suggest using an AeroPress, Origami, a Hario V60, or a French press to bring out the best characteristics of this fruit-forward coffee.
