Weekly Roasts: WatchHouse and Culto
Discover two new coffee releases: a washed Burundi from WatchHouse with bright, clean notes, and an anaerobic natural Nicaraguan roast from Culto with an intensely fruity, sweet profile.
Dear coffee lovers,
Atio Studio recently unveiled a new visual identity for The North Face’s storefront graphic system. Rooted in TNF’s “Never Stop Exploring” manifesto, the designs draw inspiration from navigation signage. You can dive into the full case study here.
Meanwhile, Malaysian coffee roaster One Half Roastery is celebrating its second anniversary by thoughtfully collaborating with local designers from SAD Studio. They’ve created two unique table lamps inspired by classic camping lanterns, each one made to cast comforting, warm lighting.
For this week’s roasts, I tracked down a classic, washed Burundi coffee from WatchHouse in London, England, and a wild, anaerobic natural Nicaraguan coffee with a heavily fruity, sweet profile from Culto in Montevideo, Uruguay. Let’s dive in! 👀
The daily sipper
Turihamwe
Roaster: WatchHouse
Origin: Ngozi, Burundi
Producer: Turihamwe Washing Station

Note from the roaster:
This washed Bourbon comes from 1,750 MaSL in Ngozi, Burundi, and is produced by Turihamwe — a women-led group whose name means “together” in Kirundi. In 2019, they built Burundi’s first woman-owned washing station using premiums earned through JNP Coffee, an exporter focused on quality and producer equity.

The wild one
Nicaragua Fuego
Roaster: Culto
Origin: Mozonte, Nueva Segovia, Nicaragua
Producer: Hugo Nuñez
Notes: Pineapple, Red Cherry, Mint
Process: Anaerobic Natural Sleeping Bag
Note from the roaster:
A coffee with outstanding sensory characteristics, the result of the exceptional work of Hugo Nuñez, its producer, throughout the entire process, but particularly in the drying stage, where the whole fruits are fermented no less than 300 hours before beginning the process itself. The result of this fermentation provides a significant increase in sweetness and fruity notes, which gain great intensity and are very present in the mouth.
Recommended brewing methods:
Hario V60 · Kalita Wave (try it iced!) · Hario Switch · Orea V4 · AeroPress (Inverted)
